Is the lower the iron content of the die-cast aluminum alloy, the better?
The impurities of iron (Fe) will form needle crystals of FeAl3. Because the die casting is quenched, the crystals are too fine to be considered harmful.
If the content is less than 0.7%, it is not easy to release, so the iron (Fe) containing 0.8-1.0% is better for die casting.
Containing large amounts of iron (Fe), it forms metallic compounds that form hard spots.
When the amount of (Fe) is more than 1.2%, the fluidity of alloy will be reduced, the quality of castings will be damaged, and the service life of metal components in die casting equipment will be shortened.
