Investment casting SS 304 is the most common stainless steel casting grade due to its excellent corrosion resistance and value. It contains 16% to 24% chromium and up to 35% nickel, as well as small amounts of carbon and manganese.
Investment casting SS 304 is the most widely used stainless steel, containing Cr 18-20%, Ni 8-10.5%, also known as 18-8 stainless steel. SS 304 is non-magnetic in the annealed condition, but after cold working (such as stamping, drawing, bending, rolling), part of the austenite structure may be transformed into martensite, so it is weakly magnetic. Type 304 has good resistance to atmospheric corrosion and oxidation, and can be widely used in the food industry as a standard food grade stainless steel.
